12 Sept - Sharmila picks me up at 7am and I haul my luggage and carry-on to the rental - I definitely maxed out my carry-on allowance with a large backpack, a laptop bag and a grocery bag of food. Somehow I made it all the way without complaints. We boarded our flight on time, but when we landed in Atlanta, Georgia, the plane was unable to find a gate to park at. We sat for about 50 minutes. When we finally got off the plane we had missed our connection to Rome. Delta gave us meal vouchers and rooms and rebooked us for the next day. So we spend 23 hours in Atlanta, Georgia.
13 Sept - We take the train to downtown Atlanta at 10am. Downtown Atlanta at 10am on a Saturday is dead. Fortunately the uncomfortable deserted atmosphere completely changed by noon.
Underneath the Chick-Fil-A donated sculpture. Atlanta has lots of sculptures all around the downtown area - very cool.
Children playing in Olympic Park.
And just for my Uncle David who loves public transportation, I added a picture of Atlanta's subway system, which is not extensive but very nice.
